About the course
Master of Design (M.Des) is a two-year postgraduate degree programme in Design. Masters in Design is usually undertaken by those with a strong interest in the arts and who aspire to become the best in the design field. Candidates for the M.Des programme must meet the prerequisites by earning a qualifying degree in design, architecture, interior design, fine arts, or any other field from an accredited university with at least 50% marks.
Master of Design (MDes) is one of the degrees that helps in specialization and advancing skills for a career in the Design field. MDes degree offers one to learn real-world-based techniques, industry-specific theories, and design skills through projects so that one learns the nitty-gritty to the core. Eligibility
Students wanting to pursue a postgraduate degree in the design field should fulfill the following criteria before applying.
- The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in Design or in any stream from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
- They should have qualified for the entrance examination conducted for the design courses.

M.Des Admission Process 2025
Candidates can secure admission through various national-level, state-level and university-level MDes entrance exams. Given below are some step-wise procedures for admission to MDescourses through entrance exams:
Step 1: Eligibility Criteria
The candidates applying for MDescourses should ensure they fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by MDes colleges and the entrance exam conducting body.
Step 2: Official Notification of the MDes exam
The candidates are advised to carefully read through the official notification for the entrance exam and familiarise themselves with the application process.
Step 3: Application Form
Candidates would have to enter their details, upload necessary documents and make a fee payment to complete the online registration process.
Step 4: Admit Card
Candidates should download and take a printout of the admit card and check for any discrepancies.
Step 5: Appear for the Exam.
They should be present in their assigned exam centre at the said time as per the admit card. They should also carry other necessary documents, photographs, IDs etc.
Step 6: Receive good results and participate in the MDes seat allotment process.
Most MDes colleges conduct a document verification process followed by seat allotment.
Step7: Pay the MDes Admission fee
The candidates should pay the admission fee to confirm admission to the MDes course. This is the last step in the MDes admission procedure.
